Mr. Hebert is a world-class musician and long time member of the Cleveland Orchestra. He has appeared as sololist with the Cleveland Orchestra in Vivaldi Concertos for piccolo and has also been featured in concerts with the Akron Symphony, the Cleveland Philharmonic Orchestra, The Cleveland Women’s Orchestra, and has been a frequent soloist at the Baldwin-Wallace Bach Festival. Since his retirement from the Cleveland Orchestra in 1988, Mr. Hebert continues to coach and lecture internationally.

Artist Bio:

William Hebert served as flute and piccolo player of the Cleveland Orchestra from 1947 to 1988, an uninterrupted tenure of 41 years. Born in Northampton, Massachusetts, Mr. Hebert has played flute and piccolo since his high school days. Mr. Hebert studied at the Longy School in Cambridge with Boston Symphony flutist James Pappoutsakis, and then attended the Julliard School where his major teacher was Arthur Lora of the NBC Symphony. Mr. Hebert was a member of the New York City Center Symphony, Opera, and Ballet before coming to Cleveland. He has taught at Kent State University, the Blossom Festival School, and at Baldwin-Wallace Conservatory, where he has also been a member of the faculty woodwind quintet.
