Two outstanding artists of Danish origin have combined their remarkable talents to explore their Viking roots and put them into a new musical perspective: As a writer and co-producer Jens Gad, has contributed immensely to the global success of Enigma, the project of multi-platinum producer Michael Cretu. Jens, a passionate guitarist, drummer and composer met Helene Horlyck, who after many years of classical training, also had gained a lot of live experience with improvised music. Thrilled by each others talents, they decided to create a sophisticated chill out journey through the traditional “Nine Worlds of Viking Myths,” which is carried by Helene’s uniquely sensitive classical voice and the emotional solo guitar of Jens. Highly attractive state-of-the-art-sounds meet with archaic melodies, and extremely sensual singing is contrasted with delicately bluesy guitar playing. The music of Achillea is stimulating and calming, entertaining and relaxing, full of peaceful beauty, and strikingly vital.

Achillea combine bluesy guitar, deep molasses grooves, and passionate vocals that form a rich tapestry of Nordic atmospheres. Formed by fellow Danes Jens Gad and Helene Horlyck, Achillea base their songs on archaic poems and mythology. Gad, who contributed to Enigma's 1991 global smash "Sadness," builds the music around Horlyck's classically trained voice, resulting in a unique sound that's equal parts precision and spontaneity. Together they created a sophisticated song cycle called The Nine Worlds, which takes the listener on a journey through the different levels of Norse mythology.
