Prem Joshua has come a long way from the 18-year-old German rocker, mind blown by a Ravi Shankar performance, answering a mysterious call from a faraway place.  While spending the better part of 20 years in India (where he has sold well over 50,000 records), Joshua has developed a unique musical style employing sitar, Indian flutes, saxophone, electronica and tarana-style singing that artfully—and skillfully—bridges the gap between traditional Eastern sounds and Western jazz forms, prompting the Times of India to dub him “the new guru of East-West fusion music.”

Swing To The Glory Of The Universe

At 18, a German student saw Ravi Shankar perform and his life was changed forever; Prem Joshua spent the next 20 years in India, mastering the sitar and learning the traditions of Indian music.   As his own style developed he blended Eastern styles and instruments with Western Jazz forms using the Indian flutes, sax, electronica and tarana-style (wordless) vocals.  With this latest album, Prem Joshua's music has gone one step further into the mainstream, remixed by DJ Science to create a true synthesis of tradition and futurism.   Bringing in the vision of different mixologists, including Cosmic Rocker, Aram Ram and Sean Dinsmore, Prem Joshua's haunting, dreamlike music is transformed into dub, chill and dancefloor masterworks.  This album takes trance inducing, meditative music and adds movement and dance-ability.  The listener is induced to get up, swing and sway to the glory of the universe.  Highly recommended .    - Vision Magazine, Dec 03
