Chinmaya Dunster first met Niladri Kumar after he heard Niladri play in a moving performance in Pune, India. Chinmaya had never heard anything like it. Here was an Indian sitarist who took as his gat (fixed composition against which to improvise) the Beatles tune, 'I Once Had A Girl!' But at the same time, Chinmaya recognized that Niladri was clearly one of the best classical sitar players he had ever seen in his 25 years of listening. Chinmaya later made a point of seeking Niladri out in Bombay. Together the two crafted the excellent music on Yoga Lounge. The CD they created has since been labeled 'a sitar lover’s gem,' and, 'East Indian music as its expressive best, coaxing sultry, seductive moods from an array of memorable tunes.
