Deva Premal - LOVE IS SPACE
Play Sample Recorded in the US, Deva Premal's second album contains six sacred mantras from India, including Gatè Gatè, the heart sutra of Buddha, and Om Mane Padme Hum, the ancient Tibetan invocation, plus several of her concert favorites. Also included is the exquisitely performed West African chant, Idè Werê Werê.
The sound texture is rich and expansive, and the musicianship first-class throughout. Deva Premal herself shines through it all, like a beacon of light, her amazing voice calling us all on to higher ground, and into the sanctuary of our own hearts. This beautiful album continues in the footsteps of her classic debut CD, The Essence.

A stellar cast of musicians including the amazing Jai Uttal, Miten and Kit Walker, contribute acoustic grand piano, keyboards, guitar, flute and percussion. Premal chose the title Love Is Space - also her personal mantra - to remind us that love has no barriers or boundaries.
While most of the seven tracks are Hindu mantras, she included Om Mani Padme Hum, a Tibetan mantra, that progresses with passionate joy. Idé Weré Weré comes from the Yoruba people of Nigeria and is dedicated to Ochun, the goddess of love. Liner notes provide all lyrics in both the original language and English, which really helps listeners enjoy the album. One of the finest chant albums of 2000, Love Is Space is a rare gift indeed.
