Artist Bio:

Felix Maria Woschek is a true world-musician. Since 20 years he is a pioneer in mantric music and has managed to interpret the most beautiful Spirituals in the world afresh. He plays from the heart, blessed with a voice that heals the soul and echoes the fundamental unity underlying all the world's religious forms. In his songs, every note lives its own life and at the same time lives for the piece as a whole. Woschek takes time and allows a note to swell up slowly, and then die away again. His music thus takes on a very spatial effect, so that the listener genuinely feels surrounded by gentle sounds. He himself seems to tremble, in body, mind, and spirit, in harmony with his music while he is singing or playing his many different instruments. His repertoire includes Buddhist mantras, Gregorian chant, Indian and Jewish spiritual music. He has thus already attracted the attention of great musicians around the world, and published wonderful recordings with Sufi-Master Ustad Sultan Khan and Mohammad Eghbal.

Review:

Amba
“Odysse” Aug. 2002
This is quite simply a wonderful CD to enjoy in group singing, therapeutic purposes or quiet introspective work. The magically unifying factor is the Sanskrit mantra being sung. The mantra praises the female aspect of God as a mother and protector, and a source of love and sympathy. Brilliantly, and in a most enchanting manner, one is transported into another world of healing and wonder. A world that is very gentle indeed, and the repetitive nature of song, sound and melody is very conducive to meditation. Track two, “Free Tibet”, is somewhat different. An interesting interpretation of the Om Mani Padme Hum, combined with original Tibetan chanting, is very meditative in quality. This beautiful illustrated CD is pleasing to the touch and eye, and comes highly recommended for the discerning listener.
